Maya van der Meer
Maya is an author, educator, environmentalist, and long-time Buddhist practitioner. She has taught preschool through high school students using progressive and contemplative methods for the past 15 years in a variety of settings. She is the founder of the online education platform Bodhi Kids that has assisted Buddhist communities in establishing or enhancing their children’s programming over the last decade. Always with a mind on future generations, Maya is co-founder and executive director of The CarbonDrawn Initiative, a climate impact nonprofit. She also works at Bard College and lives with her life partner and their children in New York’s magical Catskill Mountains. Ensconced in their cozy cabin, Maya is currently writing her second children’s book and a historical novel based on her Polish grandmother’s memoirs.
