Eastern Up!

Hello SCBWI NY: Eastern Upstate members and friends. Or as we’ve begun to affectionally call our community of writers and illustrators—Eastern Up!

As you may have noticed over the last several months, the combination of Pandemic life and having a relatively new Regional Team has allowed us to move and grow in new, sometimes unexpected and hopefully wonderful ways. As the world is trying to find a new normal, here at Eastern Up! we are doing our best to make our corner of the SCBWI the best it can be.

Part of this year’s plan for building a solid launching pad for our community is to build a website. We are hoping it will be an information hub for everyone to stay informed—even if you are not on our private FB page.

Our long-term goals for the site include event postings, information on how to volunteer, regional member contact info, social media links, a community blog, resources, a listing of SCBWI PAL members and their websites/publications, publication celebrations, community events/resources etc.

BUT we need your help to get started!

We are hosting a dual pronged contest to help Eastern Up! create this new website.

PHASE 1: Calling all writers—we are running a contest to come up with a new and innovative TAGLINE for Eastern UP! We are looking for something that represents the heart and soul of our community of Writers and Illustrators. We’d love for it to be catchy—something that will become easily recognizable and easy to use.

The winner of the tagline contest will win a $100 gift card to one of our local bookstores.

PHASE 2: Calling all illustrators—once we have our tagline, we’ll be running a contest for the new Eastern Up! Logo and Website header. It should be to be colorful and embody our new tagline. It should also help us spruce up our new website, but it will also be our calling card for any SCBWI or community events.

The winner of the Logo/Website Header contest will win a $100 gift card to one of our local bookstores.

*Both contests will be judged by votes on this website.
